Tombs

Our second week here we were able to go to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and see some services. The church was way ornate and pretty, and I was able to go into the tomb where some people believe Christ was buried after he was crucified. I don’t know if that was really where he was buried but it was nice to reflect back on Christ’s Atonement for me and how he has blessed the lives of so many people. It's amazing to see people's devotion and faith.
The next day we had a field trip where we went to all the different lookout points around Jerusalem. It was really cool to drive around and see all of the different views.
Just enjoying our classroom outside!
My favorite place we went was the hills of Judea and we sang Christmas songs while overlooking Bethlehem. That was unreal.
I also was able to go to the Israeli Museum, which was amazing. It was huge! I love museums, and it is one of the best museums in the country so it was way cool. They had a newer exhibit about the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were really cool. Another really cool thing I did this week was called the Ramparts Walk, which is where you walk along the wall that goes around the Old City so you can see everything from above, so that was kind of a cool thing to do. And look at this view of the Western Wall and the Dome!
Later that week we were able to go to the Garden Tomb in town which is another place that people believe Christ was buried. I loved that place! It was a way big, pretty, peaceful garden.  It seriously was so beautiful I loved it. It was kind of the same thing with the Holy Sepulchre, where I don’t know if that was the actual burial place of Christ, but the symbol of the empty tomb was pretty powerful, especially in the garden. Then we sang some hymns, starting with I Know that My Redeemer Lives,  and the Spirit was so strong, I loved it.
